22 Jul 2022

The Maison Francis Kurkdjian perfume house will work on the creation of the Perfume Garden in Versailles. It will open next spring. WWD reports it.

The garden will be located in the Versailles Park in the center of the Trianon estate, in the Chateauneuf greenhouse. Hundreds of varieties of plants that are used in perfumery will grow in it. Francis Kurkdjian has announced a collaboration with the gardeners of Trianon who will help select the species that were common at Versailles in the 17th century.

“This garden will include traditional flowers such as roses and jasmine, as well as plants with unusual scents ranging from chocolate to apple. We will also plant fetid and so-called dumb plants, such as hyacinth, peony and violet”, shared the representatives of the brand.

The gardens of Versailles played an important role in the development of perfumery, which was especially popular in the 17th century during the reign of Louis XIV. Even centuries later, it remains an important element of modern life. You can read about which flavors to choose today here.
