Erdogan: Biden administration is determined to sell F-16s to Turkey
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration is positively disposed on the sale of F-16s to Turkey, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Earlier, the U.S. Senate lifted restrictive conditions in its version of the bill on the F-16 fighter jets deal with Turkey. The restrictions were imposed after Turkey purchased Russian S-400 air defense systems.Besides, the U.S. issued a formal notice to Turkey to exclude it from the program of supplying the latest F-35 fighter jets.
Ismail Demir, head of Turkey’s defense industry directorate, stated that if the purchase of American F-16s fails, the country may consider buying Russian Su-35 fighters.
